For more than two decades I have been working with individuals, organisations, and communities to find workable, lasting solutions to a range of legal issues or disputes. This has included assisting Māori and non-Māori organisations and individuals through complex challenges they face, including issues that are firmly grounded in tikanga Māori. In doing so, I’m mindful that the process of finding a solution, and preserving relationships while doing so, is just as important as the outcome if the end result is to be workable and lasting.

WHAT I CAN HELP YOU WITH
I am available as an independent mediator to assist in resolving a wide range of disputes or conflicts in a facilitative way. Mediation is typically faster and less costly than court proceedings.
I have particular experience in working with Māori organisations, and with issues arising between Māori and non-Māori entities, as well as issues or relationships with a strong tikanga Māori component to them.
I provide a range of legal advice and support on issues affecting Māori organisations, those working with Māori, and the wider Māori legal landscape. This includes assisting with unique negotiations and strategic initiatives.
These have ranged from large scale Treaty of Waitangi settlements or co-management agreements to other, more specialised projects.
I also offer a range of alternative dispute resolution services to best support clients with the unique challenges they are facing.
I am available to undertake arbitrations, which is a dispute resolution processes in which an independent arbitrator hears evidence and submissions from each party and issues a binding decision. It can be like a court process, but is private, quicker, and much more flexible.
