DISPUTE RESOLUTION

I offer a range of alternative dispute resolution services to best support clients with the unique challenges they are facing. These include arbitrations, adjudications, investigations and reviews.

I am qualified to sit as a commissioner on RA (Resource Management Act) Hearing Panels and currently hold a current Making Good Decisions certification, and am a member of the Human Rights Review Tribunal.

All of these processes can be designed to meet the specific context of your dispute, including incorporating or reflect tikanga requirements or other cultural needs.

What is Arbitration?

These are a private, binding dispute resolution processes in which an arbitrator hear evidence and submissions from the parties and issue a binding decision. It can be like a court process, but is private, quicker, and much more flexible. It is particularly well-suited to disputes where a binding, enforceable, decision from a neutral person is need, the parties which to keep the issues out of the spotlight, or the process needs to reflect issues or tikanga or other cultural considerations

What is Adjudication?

This is a faster form of binding dispute resolution, where an adjudicator considers written submissions and relevant evidence before issuing a binding decision. This is helpful when a quick decision from an external person is needed, and the issues can be assessed ‘on the paper’ rather than a-kanohi/face-to-face. I currently undertake adjudications across a range of subjects, including in the education, insurance, and financial services sectors.

Workplace investigations of complaints, grievances, or alleged misconduct in workplace settings
Investigation of governance disputes, including issues relating to compliance issues within organisations, or the breakdown in relationships between key individuals
